Six women arrested in massage shops as suspected prostitutes
The women, foreigners, are accused of providing sexual services in the Little India district
Six foreign women were arrested by police on Wednesday in an operation at four massage parlours in the Little India district of Singapore on suspicion of offering sexual services to customers.
Between 3 and 6pm, police officers raided four estabnlishments along Rangoon, Balestier and Race Course Roads and arrested six women, aged between 29 and 50, The Straits Times reported.
The probed parlours include two traditional Chinese massage shops on Rangoon Road that offer cupping therapy and ear-candling services. There women were arrested there.
The police also raided two unlicensed beauty shops on Balestier and Race Course Roads, where another three women were arrested.
The arrested women were accused of violating the Women’s Charter rules as they were allegedly involved in prostitution activities, Lianhe Zaobao reported. Charges for sexual services at these shops are said to range from S$50 (US$35.9) to S$200.
