Indian shot-putter Inderjeet Singh, who has tested positive for a banned substance days before the Rio Olympics, calls it a conspiracy against him.

Inderjeet Singh told NDTV that his A-samples had been tampered with. “I am under shock. I have never been been involved in substances,” he said. Singh said he was being targeted since he had earlier been vocal against the apathy towards athletes in India.

Inderjeet tested positive for androsterone and etiocholanolone during a recent doping test, with the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA) confirming the news on Tuesday.

Efforts are on to get his ‘B’ sample testing done on Tuesday itself in Delhi, and to have a hearing as well since the Olympics is round the corner. Inderjeet had won gold at the Asian Athletics Championships in 2015.

It may be noted that wrestler Narsingh Yadav tested positive last week for a banned steroid.
