Suspected burglary gang from mainland busted by HK police
Officers found some tools in their backpacks, including three crowbars, three screwdrivers and three pairs of gloves
A gang of three mainland Chinese men were arrested for possession of tools for illegal use when they were intercepted in a luxury residential district on Hong Kong Island on Tuesday, police say.
At 8pm, when police officers were patrolling in the area along Moorsom Road at Jardine’s Lookout in an anti-burglary operation, they spotted three suspicious-looking men wandering outside luxury residential buildings, Oriental Daily reported.
Police detained the men and allegedly found some tools in their backpacks, including three crowbars, three screwdrivers and three pairs of gloves, suspecting that the trio planned to use these items to attempt a break-in.
It was understood that the three men, who held two-way Hong Kong entry permits obtained a few days ago, were from Guangxi province.
