Syrian accused of molesting Filipino cleared of charges
A court in Dubai dismissed the charges, citing a lack of corroborated evidence
A Syrian engineer in Dubai who was accused of molesting a Filipino co-worker was cleared of the charges against him. In March, the 39-year-old man allegedly slapped the woman on the behind as she was using a water cooler in a corridor of their company’s building, Gulf News reported.
The woman burst into tears and told a colleague what she claimed had happened, who then reported the matter to the police, who apprehended the man.
Last Saturday in the Dubai Court of First Instance, the defendant pleaded not guilty to molesting the woman. The court dismissed the charges citing a lack of corroborated evidence.
A Filipino colleague told prosecutors that the man had mistaken the complainant for another female co-worker.
