Teacher arrested for allegedly hitting rowdy student
The boy, a Pakistani aged 15, teased the teacher by hitting him twice on the chin; he was allegedly hit on the head and suffered a punctured eardrum
Police have arrested a 39-year-old teacher for allegedly striking a 15-year-old student, who suffered a punctured eardrum earlier this month.
The injured student, a boy of Pakistani origin named Nasir, is studying in Year Two in the Society Of Boys’ Centres at Chak Yan Centre School in Kowloon’s Sham Shui Po, Apple Daily reported.
The boy is said to have teased the male teacher, surnamed Chan, on October 10, by hitting his chin during a Chinese History class. Chan warned the boy to behave but the boy ignored him.
The boy then hit Chan’s chin again, which allegedly spurred the teacher to slam the left side of the boy’s head. The blow caused great pain to his left ear – he claims he suffered tinnitus for two minutes.
The boy informed staff at the school and went to a hospital for medical treatment accompanied by a school employee and a social worker. But, they did not report the case to police, Sing Tao Daily reported.
On October 17, when the boy went to the hospital for a checkup, a doctor informed him that two small holes had been found in his left eardrum. The boy’s family then reported the case to police.
The case was classed as wounding and the teacher released on bail.
