Three armed men attack, rob a businessman on his way home
The South Asian men were carrying a knife, hammer and steel pole and ambushed a man working at a financial company, taking a bag containing cash
Honk Kong police are searching for three South Asian men who robbed and injured a businessman in Yuen Long in the New Territories at midnight on Friday.
The three men, wearing face masks and armed with a knife, hammer and steel pole, attacked a 31-year-old man who runs a financial company, stealing a bag he carried containing HK$110,000 (US$14,014) in cash. The attack happened at the Long Ping Estate bus terminal, the Oriental Daily reported.
The man was assaulted before the three grabbed his bag and ran away. A mobile phone worth HK$7,000, some documents and personal belongings were also in the bag.
Police called paramedics, who treated the man who was bleeding from the head, before sending him to the Pok Oi Hospital. After an initial investigation, police believe the suspects knew the man’s business, knew he would be carrying a large amount of cash and knew the route he took after work.
The criminal investigation department of Yuen Long Police Station was following up.
