Toshiba pushes Westinghouse to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy

Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso on Tuesday declined to comment on the media report.

Toshiba Corp. wants its US nuclear unit Westinghouse to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection as early as Tuesday, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters, seeking a quick ring-fencing of losses before the Japanese parent’s financial year ends.

Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso on Tuesday declined to comment on the media report.
