Transgender trio’s spicy act wows the judges in talent show
Miss Tres, who sang a Tom Jones song, are tipped to do well in the contest
Three transgender singers from the Philippines have been compared to the Spice Girls after wowing the audience and judges at an audition for Britain’s Got Talent with their rendition of the raunchy 1999 classic Sex Bomb.
Simon Cowell, the show’s producer and lead judge, said Mavey, 36, Mariko, 43 and Crissy, 35, who performed the Tom Jones song under the name of Miss Tres, could go far in the competition, The Sun said. “You were hiding a little secret from us,” Cowell said.
A source close to the show told the Mirror: “They went down a storm with the audience. They have real attitude and sass – just like the Spice Girls. (Cowell) thinks there could be a real buzz around them this year.”
Another of the judges, Amanda Holden, exclaimed after their appearance: “You’re just so hot. It’s unfair.”
The trio, who want to be compared to Destiny’s Child and the Spice Girls, were semifinalists in the fourth season of Pilipinas Got Talent, the Philippine version of the British reality show, in 2013. They also appeared in the first season of Asia’s Got Talent in 2015, but did not make it to the semifinals of that competition.
