Two Hong Kong men and a Thai woman were arrested in a police raid on the Champagne Court residential building in Kimberley Road in Tsim Sha Tsui on Thursday.

The organized crime and triad bureau, the special duty squad, and the tactical and dog units of the Yau Tsim Police District, along with officers from Tsim Sha Tsui District, carried out a joint raid on Champagne Court, Sing Pao Daily reported.

Three quarters of the building’s apartments had been empty since Richfield Group Holdings acquired them a year ago. The empty flats were then occupied by several triad groups conducting illegal activities, including drug dealing, weapons storage, gambling and prostitution. The police frequently received crime reports on Block B of the building.

A local man surnamed Tang, 40, was arrested for drug possession while another surnamed Wong, had an outstanding arrest warrant. A 27-year-old Thai woman was arrested for overstaying her visa, Apple Daily reported.

Yau Tsim District Police Assistant Commander Law Kwok-hoi said 10 of the illegally occupied flats were subdivided into 54 units for prostitution. Triad groups had made about HK$10 million (US$1.29 million) per month from the building.
