Turkey talks up One Belt, One Road

Speaking this week, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said China's One Belt, One Road project is of great importance to the realization of a modern vision of the historic Silk Road.

The Daily Sabah reported Thursday that, speaking at the 13th Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) summit in Islamabad this week, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan highlighted China’s One Belt, One Road project. Erdoğan said the initiative is of great importance to the realization of a modern vision of the historic Silk Road. He continued that Turkey is committed to its investment in infrastructure projects, including high-speed railways and a massive new Istanbul airport, that was cited as potentially being the world’s largest upon completion.
