Typhoon Haikui may bring stormy weather on Sunday
Combined with the northeast monsoon, the tropical cyclone will bring wind and rain to coastal areas of southern China on Sunday and early next week
Tropical cyclone Haikui is about 730 kilometers east-southeast of Xisha (the Paracel Islands), according tothe Hong Kong Observatory, which said the storm would intensify gradually and may come close to Hong Kong on Sunday.
The weather forecaster said Haikui will move across the central part of the South China Sea in the general direction of Hainan Island over the weekend and early next week, Oriental Daily reported.
Haikui is expected to be closer – about 600 kilometers from Hong Kong – on Sunday.
Combined with the northeast monsoon, Haikui will bring wind and rain to coastal areas of southern China on Sunday and early next week.
A northeast monsoon is expected to bring cooler weather to the city in the middle of next week and the minimum temperature could drop to 20 degrees Celsius, Headline Daily reported.
