Update: Chief of Staff, Steve Bannon ‘mutually agree’ on departure
Statement comes after days of speculation, leaves Trump isolated in own White House
Following a bombshell interview from White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon on Wednesday amid widespread speculation of his imminent departure, the president has finally made his decision. It was announced as a mutual decision made by Chief of Staff John Kelly and Steve Bannon.
The move leaves the president in an awkward position following the statements he made after Charlottesville. As we noted earlier today, Trump has staked his political future in part on a realignment that depends on economic policies advanced by Bannon and no one else inside the White House.
