Very hot weather to persist in HK for a few days
A middle-aged man was spotted by a passer-by stripping off his clothes and soaking himself in a water fountain in Kowloon’s Mong Kok area
The Hong Kong Observatory issued a “very hot weather” warning on Friday morning and expects high temperatures will continue for the next few days.
The Observatory issued the warning at 6:45am, noting that the temperature in the urban area of Hong Kong could reach 33 degrees Celsius.
At 2pm, most districts in the city recorded 30 to 32 degrees, while Shek Kong in the New Territories reached 34.8 degrees.
Thanks to an anticyclone aloft over the northern part of the South China Sea, people in Hong Kong should expect fine and very hot weather over the next few days with temperatures ranging from 28 to 33 degrees.
A trough of low pressure is expected to bring a few showers to southern China by the middle of next week, which could cool things down.
As the hot weather persisted, a middle-aged man was spotted by a passer-by named Jason stripping off his clothes and soaking himself in a water fountain in Kowloon’s Mong Kok area at 1am on Thursday, Apple Daily reported.
The naked man seemed to enjoy the cool water in the fountain outside the Pioneer Centre shopping arcade and annoyed people who saw him, Jason said.
Jason said he stayed there for 10 minutes and when he left, the man was still enjoying the water.
