Video shows near miss as girls cross road
A taxi driving in Tsim Sha Tsui almost hit a young girl when she crossed the road from between two parked vehicles
A taxi driver urged adults to take care of children when they cross roads after a video surfaced on social media showing two girls coming close to being knocked down in Kowloon’s Tsim Sha Tsui on Thursday.
The 27-second video from a dashboard camera showed a taxi driving along the Granville Raod near the Science Museum when a girl, aged around 10 and holding an umbrella, walked out into traffic from between two parked coaches, Headline Daily reported.
The girl saw the taxi and ran to the other side of the road. However, she was then followed by a younger girl. Luckily the taxi driver, having been alerted by the first girl, managed to stop in time to avoid hitting the second child.
A woman, thought to be the girls’ mother, then followed the girls across the road, apparently oblivious to how close her children had come to being the victims of a serious accident.
The taxi driver uploaded the video to a Facebook group, urging parents and adults to seriously look after their children especially when crossing roads.
Visitors to the Facebook page slammed the woman for failing to take good care of the girls, while others accused her of having a poor attitude towards road safety.
