Wang Yupu appointed to work safety watchdog post
Wang, 61, has worked in the oil industry for nearly 30 years and started his political career in 2009
Wang Yupu, chairman of Sinopec Group, Asia’s largest oil refining and petrochemical enterprise, was appointed Communist Party Secretary of the State Administration of Work Safety, Caixin reported. By convention, Wang will also act as the director of the administration.
Wang, 61, has worked in the oil industry for nearly 30 years and started his political career in 2009. Over the following six years, he served as deputy governor of Heilongjiang province, the party boss of All-China Federation of Trade Unions and the deputy director of the China Academy of Engineering.
Wang returned to the oil industry and acted as the chairman of Sinopec Group in 2015.
The bureau chief position has been vacant for more than two months as former boss Yang Huanning was dismissed from his post at the end of July, over serious violations of Party rules.
