The oil-rich Sultanate produces 150,000 barrels of oil and 25 million cubic meters of gas a day. Oil and gas account for more than 95 per cent of the county's export revenues, which totalled to 2.1 billion USD in 1994 with gross national product totalling to 3.98 billion USD.
