Youths ‘force teen shopkeeper to swallow acid-like chemical’
Customer 'threatened his life' after being told no paneer was available
A group of men allegedly forced an 18-year-old man to swallow an “acid-like” chemical at his family’s shop in southeast Delhi’s Sangam Vihar on Tuesday night, PTI reported.
On July 24, at around 9 pm, Golu, a neighborhood boy, came to the shop on the ground floor of the proprietor’s family home to purchase paneer (cottage cheese). When he was told that paneer was not available, Golu picked up a knife kept in the shop and tried to attack the teen, identified as Yogesh, the report stated.
Yogesh’ s father Brijesh told PTI that his son was threatened by the accused and the following day a group of youths came to the shop when Yogesh was alone and forced the substance down his throat.
His father told PTI, “Yogesh is in severe pain and we are hoping that he will come through it.”
Yogesh is being treated in hospital and his condition is said to be critical.
