BEIJING - Construction of the
Yangshan wharf in Shanghai is proceeding well, and port
giants have expressed an interest in conducting business
there.
So far, over 20 Chinese and foreign
enterprises have expressed their intention of investing
in the Shanghai Yangshan Deep Water Wharf. These
enterprises included international shipping giants such
as Singapore Port Group, China Ocean Shipping Group
Company, China Shipping Group, P&O Nedlloyd Port and
P&O Nedlloyd.
According to a plan, the first
phase of the project consisting of five berths has gone
into operation, and is operated by the Shanghai
International Port Administrative (Group) Company Ltd.
The second phase of the Yangshan Deep Water
wharf is located in the west of the first phase wharf
with the 1,400 meters of coastal line. Four deep-water
berths will be built by the end of 2006.
Port
officials hope to hold an evaluation meeting for the
second phase project by the end of this year to approve
