Lunar New Year's Flights will cross Taiwan Strait

TAIPEI - The flight schedule for the 24 round-trip charter flights across the Taiwan Strait to be operated by six Taiwan carriers during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday has been unveiled, with Guangzhou as the hottest service destination.

According to a landmark deal reached in Macau Saturday by negotiators from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, six carriers from each side will jointly operate 48 direct, non-stop charter flights during the period from January 29 and February 20 between Taipei/Kaohsiung in Taiwan and Shanghai/Beijing/Guangzhou in mainland China for the convenience of Taiwan businessmen operating on the mainland who wish to return for the Lunar New Year celebrations. The announcement was made Monday

UNI Airways will operate two Kaohsiung-Guangzhou-Kaohsiung flights February 6 and February 14, and two Kaohsiung-Shanghai-Kaohsiung flights February 7 and February 15.

EVA will also fly a round-trip Taipei-Beijing flight January 29 and another February 15.
