Nokia kicks off Hangzhou software park

HANGZHOU - Nokia has kicked off construction of a software park in Hangzhou, the capital city of Zhejiang Province in east China.

The Nokia Innovation Software Park will comprise the Nokia 3G Hangzhou R&D Center, Nokia Mobile Application Innovation Center and other related functional departments of Nokia. The



software park project, located in the Hangzhou New and High-tech Zone, will have a total floor space of 93,218 square meters, and cost 280 million yuan (US$34.6 million). It is scheduled for operation in July 2007.

The Nokia 3G Hangzhou R&D Center will be engaged mainly in the development of Nokia's platform software technologies to be applied to 3G networks all over the world. After three years of development, it has become an important R&D base of Nokia for its 3G mobile communication products.

Nokia predicted that by 2010, one-fourth of the world's mobile phone users will be in China.
