SINGAPORE - NEC Solutions
Asia Pacific Pte of Japan has teamed up with Tagsys SA
of France to jointly develop smart tag businesses in
Southeast Asia.
The two companies hope to win
contracts from governments and businesses by presenting
a range of smart tag applications.
As a first
step, NEC Solutions Asia Pacific plans to promote the
use of smart tags in Singapore by presenting the results
of NEC Corp's smart tag experiments in Japan and
elsewhere.
It is believed that the Singaporean
government is strongly interested in building an
industry out of the products.
The two partners
hope that smart tags become commercialized in Singapore
on a large-scale ahead of the rest of the world, making
it easier to sell related products and services to
neighboring countries and Japan.
Tagsys has
already supplied more than 40 million smart tags and
10,000 reader devices around the world.
