NEW DELHI - In line with
its earlier projection, Indian software exports are on
track to grow at 26 to 28 percent during the current
fiscal year, National Association of Software and
Service Companies (Nasscom) president Kiran Karnik said
on Tuesday.
"We are on track to grow at 26 to 28
percent in software exports in 2003-04," he said on the
sidelines of the Asia Tech Summit, adding the
October-December quarter looked good.
Nasscom
had projected Indian software and services were likely
to register US$12 billion in revenue.
On whether
pricing pressure has stabilized, Karnik said pricing
pressure never goes away but there is no downward push,
adding that Nasscom would engage itself in dispelling
wrong notions about outsourcing.
Earlier this
month, lawmakers in the state of Indiana, United States,
opposed a Bill to ban non-US citizens from doing
government contract works as they felt the law would
affect overseas investment.
"We welcome the
change, free trade mutually benefits, helps the states,
companies" he said as a response to the development
while adding Nasscom would engage itself in dialogues
with various parties concerned.
Indian software
and services exports clocked a 25 percent growth during
2002-03, touching a revenue of $9.5 billion.
