Thailand, India to boost trade

BANGKOK - India is interested in Thailand's food processing technology while Bangkok sees good opportunities in increasing exports of construction materials to India.

Commerce Ministry spokesman Chamni Buchasuk said Thailand and India are seeking to boost cooperation in trade, investment, tourism and other areas.

Chamni said that during a recent trip to India by commerce inspector-general Thawatchai Sopasathianpong, India had expressed much interest in Thailand's fruit and vegetables processing technology.

India, meanwhile, is implementing a lot of infrastructure development projects so exports of several kinds of Thai construction materials to that country have a bright prospect, he said.

Chamni said Thailand and India had also signed a tourism cooperation agreement.

Thailand set its export value to India at US$2.4 billion this year, he added.
