LAURENCE
EYTON
Laurence has lived in Taiwan for
16 years and worked in its local media since 1991. He is currently Managing
Editor of the Taipei Times, a Taipei-based English-language daily. He has
extensive experience covering Taiwan affairs for a variety of overseas
publications including the Financial Times (UK), Financial Post (Canada),
Asiaweek (Hong Kong), Business Times (Singapore), and is also a frequent
contributor of analysis to Oxford Analytica (UK). Since 1995 he has covered
Taiwan for The Economist (UK). Laurence says he is generally far more
interested in Taiwan's difficult politics than its usually thriving economy,
and he keeps a keen eye on cross-strait affairs. He probably can't claim to be
the most experienced foreign media person in Taiwan, but he can claim more
Taiwan experience than any foreign media person currently based there.
