You say, if Trump is the best example of a leading presidential candidate, America is in trouble.

America is in trouble for another reason. Retarded buffoonery aside, Trump’s apparent success at the polls is also a reminder that the rules of politics in the US  have changed. To play this game, the super rich have a huge leg up. Everyone else has to sidle up to the super rich in order to rustle up the funds for the buy-in, and keeping the hands out in order to keep the candidacy viable. No money? Go home.
