Malaysia to query CNN on reporting of Anwar Trial
Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia will question the regional chief of Cable News Network after the international media company allegedly made mistakes in reporting the trial of sacked deputy prime minister Anwar Ibrahim, the New Straits Times reported, citing state news agency Bernama.
CNN allegedly reported that High Court Judge Augustine Paul cited Anwar's nine lawyers for contempt of court after the lawyers refused to make their summaries on the trial on Tuesday.
Malaysian Information Minister Mohamed Rahmat claimed that CNN and other international news organizations were trying to erode investor confidence in Malaysia and its leaders.
On Tuesday, Paul said he would discuss with the attorney- general action to be taken against Anwar's lawyers; the lawyers had wanted the court to resolve their application to remove the judge from the trial before continuing with their summaries.
